The Situation of the Muslim Family in Europe and the West: A Study of Values, Contexts, and Socio-Cultural and Political Transformations

The Ijtihad Center for Studies and Training in Belgium launched, during the 2025–2026 academic year, a research project that resulted in a collective volume on the topic: “The Situation of the Muslim Family in Europe and the West: A Study of Values, Contexts, and Socio-Cultural and Political Transformations”, alongside the organization of an international academic conference on the same theme.

The project took approximately two years to complete and went through several structured phases, including the call for papers, submission and review of abstracts, submission of full papers, double-blind peer review, revision of accepted papers based on reviewers’ feedback, and final editorial review.

These efforts culminated in the publication of a collective volume comprising 11 peer-reviewed papers, and were crowned by an international conference held on April 24–25 in Belgium, with participation available both in person and online.

Divers Research Projects

The Ijtihad Center launches various research initiatives and projects, including the Ijtihad Journal for Islamic and Arabic Studies, trainings, study days, and courses organized by the Ijtihad Academy in cooperation with centers, institutions, and universities in Belgium, Europe, and the Arab and Islamic world. In addition, we launched the “Studies of Islam in the West” series, the first edition of which was published in 2023. We invite researchers to participate in this research project with their studies, taking into account the vision of the Ijtihad Center and its editorial policy.
